Hazel Coppicing

Behind the Round House, the hazel trees are ready for a bit of attention.  On Monday volunteers began cutting them down at ground level.  The long thin branches will be used to make and mend woven hurdle fences.  The whole area is looking much tidier now and has yielded a useful product.

For a brief history of coppicing, see here.
